Using Levels Layers
Apply levels layers to the underexposed and overexposed images from the following table, and get the pictures as close to the original "normal" images as you can.
(To get the images to your computer, first click on the links below. When the image opens within your browser, place your mouse over the image and Right-Mouse-Click to open the menu. Select Save Image As, and let the computer download the image to a folder of your choice. After the images are in the folder, open Photoshop Elements Editor and work on them.)
| Statue - Front View | Normal | Underexposed | Overexposed |
| Statue - Side View | Normal | Underexposed | Overexposed |
| Old Man Statue | Normal | Underexposed | Overexposed |
The next part of the homework is a Challenge for Advanced members of the SIG. Take the challenge image, and figure out a way to lighten up the statue while leaving the rest of the background in its current somewhat dull condition. Hint: take a look at Using Levels and Masking.
Appying Text
Take the original image for the background of sunlaker.com, and add a type layer that says "mysunlaker.com" so this can be identified with the new web sitie. Follow the SIG notes where you to change the color of the text and use layer effects to emboss the text onto the image.
Using the Spot Healing Brush
Get the image of the sunset, and use the Spot Healing Brush to eliminate the bird and the brush in the foreground.
